Incinerator Operator manages and operates incineration equipment to safely and efficiently dispose of waste through controlled combustion. They monitor and maintain system performance, including temperature, airflow, pressure, and emissions, perform routine inspections, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, supporting effective waste management, reducing environmental impact, and maintaining workplace safety.
Tasks
Operate and monitor incinerator machinery to ensure safe and efficient waste combustion.
Adjust temperature, air supply, and combustion controls to maintain optimal operating conditions.
Load and handle waste materials in accordance with established safety procedures.
Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and cleaning of incineration equipment and related systems.
Inspect equipment and emission control devices to ensure proper function and regulatory compliance.
Respond to alarms, malfunctions, and emergency shutdowns to prevent operational hazards.
Record, analyse, and report operational data in compliance with environmental and workplace regulations.
Operate and monitor auxiliary systems, including air and gas compressors, as required.
Coordinate with environmental and safety officers to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Handle and dispose of ash, sludge, and other incineration byproducts safely.
